downloading map fails on my nuvi 40

I am using a Windows 10 machine with Internet Explorer 11 with the Garmin Communicator and Garmin Express installed.

I have inserted a formatted micro SD card into my nuvi 40 and plugged it into the USB port of my computer.

My computer has detected both the nuvi and the micro SD card. When attempting to download my City Navigator® North America NT - Lower 49 States map that I recently purchased onto the SD card it only partially downloads it does not download fully and yet it states that it has downloaded it. It is meant to be a 1.7 Gb download and I only get about to 70 Mb before it stops.

Please help...

If the last update for the nuvi 40 only installed a smaller region you may need to use the change map option in Garmin Express to get full coverage.

How do I reinstall maps or change coverage using Garmin Express?

If the full coverage is not sent to the SD card after this, contact Product Support for further assistance.

    Clarification Required Please

    Hi There

Can you please clarify what you mean here:

"If the last update for the nuvi 40 only installed a smaller region you may need to use the change map option in Garmin Express to get full coverage. "

My nuvi 40 came preinstalled with the Australia Map. I have purchased the City Navigator® North America NT - Lower 49 States map which states that it is a 1.7 Gb file yet when it downloads to my formatted FAT micro SD it does not download the complete file. I do not understand what you are asking me to change, can you please provide clarification?

    Regards

My apologies, I misread the post and thought you were referring to a map update, not a mapping download.

Have you tried the troubleshooting in this FAQ: What should I do when having issues downloading Downloadable Content?

It sounds like the connection to the internet is being interrupted. I recommend starting the troubleshooting with that, hard wired connection, reboot the router/modem. The FAQ mentions using another browser but IE is the only supported browser at this time for Windows computers. If you have not tried all other suggestions, please do so.

If the download issue persists, contact Product Support by phone for further assistance. Phone contact for Australia Product Support can be found here:
