Cannot add Wifi via Garmin Express

Former Member
Former Member
I purchased a Tactix Bravo last night and cannot add/save a wifi network using Garmin Express.

This occurs with both a PC and Mac.

I sign into my Garmin Connect via Express, add a wifi network, sync.

However, when going to Settings > Wifi > Connect > Use Garmin Express to add a Network

I reconnect to Garmin Express and no networks were saved.

Any suggestions?

I am sorry you are also having trouble setting up WiFi for your Tactix Bravo and I am happy to help. I would recommend double-checking your settings (as a previous agent suggested) to make sure you do have the WiFi set up correctly first. Please make sure your connection is:
    • 2.4 GHz band
    • 802.11 B/G/N
    • WEP / WPA / WPA2 security (WPA-Enterprise is not supported)
    • Channels 1-11 for North American devices, channels 1-13 for International devices

If you have already verified this, then we do suggest you contact ">Product Support">Product Support via phone. This problem doesn't happen with all these devices, but we are gathering information from the devices running into it. With more information, we can get this issue resolved more quickly.

Thank you for the support but just wanted to ask a question, as I owned fenix 3 sapphire before and it didn't have any issues in connecting to the wifi (I haven't changed anything in my internet sittings). So is there any difference between fenix3 sapphire wifi software and the tactix bravo? As if not then I will have to go ask the shop for a replacement.

I've also been through all the various steps mentioned and have tried multiple arrangements of wifi settings, locations, different routers and even different OS on the watch. No luck in making this work - the watch always just says 'setup wifi using Garmin Express'
I've contacted support and they recommend an RMA/warranty replacement - Im reluctant to do this as I assume it means being without the watch for a while and no guarantee that the replacement would do any better - though not definitive - everything I have observed and the fact others have the same issue suggests this is a software/configuration issue and not hardware.

I would not RMA the watch. It will not help. This is obviously a software issue on Garmin's end. Not router, not watch, etc.

I exchanged my tactix bravo for a new one at REI and it does the exact same thing.

Garmin support has not returned any of my inquiries, either. No email or phone call after multiple attempts with reaching a person.

I'm in the same boat....wifi will not set up. The wifi folder does get the IN.BIN file placed into it but after I disconnect it nothing. When I go back into Express, the network I setup is no longer there. I also have to set it up manually. Express does not find my network. I phoned support and they were of no help. My network is WPA2, channel 5...I'm at a loss here. Hope it gets sorted soon.

guys does anyone knows how to make sure that we got the right specification in terms of wifi setup? i just wonder does fenix3 sapphire and tactix got the same software or not? as if yes then there is a hardware issue with the tactix bravo then:confused:

I'm going this upcoming Monday to the shop where I bought the watch from and ask them if they can test the new watch before taking it. If the new watch got the same issue then I guess there is something wrong with this new Tactix Bravo.

Will let you know by Monday.

So I did went today to the shop again as I couldn't wait till Monday, tested a new watch tactix bravo and tried to setup a wifi network in their shop which has the specifications as what Garmin advised and it didn't work.

I didn't exchange the watch as what's the use they are all having the same issue, I guess it's a software issue that Garmin has to fix.

Will just wait for a new update for the tactix bravo and hope that they fix this Wifi issue.

  • We have opened up a ticket on this issue for further research. Unfortunately, we have no ETA on when this will be resolved but will post here with any developments.
