Cannot add Wifi via Garmin Express

Former Member
Former Member
I purchased a Tactix Bravo last night and cannot add/save a wifi network using Garmin Express.

This occurs with both a PC and Mac.

I sign into my Garmin Connect via Express, add a wifi network, sync.

However, when going to Settings > Wifi > Connect > Use Garmin Express to add a Network

I reconnect to Garmin Express and no networks were saved.

Any suggestions?
  • Hard reset

(you should not lose any settings or etc with this, although you might lose steps for the day so far, so synch with GC or GCM before attempting)

Hold Light/Power button until screen goes blank, then let go.

Wait 30 seconds for watch to actually fully power off.

Hit Light/Power button briefly and you should see the "Garmin" logo appear and then the watch turns on as usual.

Try your procedure listed above re: adding a WiFi network and see what you get!

Doesn't work. I've tried everything, to include hard reset, reinstalling Garmin Express on both the PC and Mac. Nothing. It does not save the wifi network onto the watch.

This is entirely frustrating since I returned my first Fenix 3 last August. Now, I gave it a 2nd try with the tactix Bravo and I see Garmin still doesn't have their **** together for a $700 watch.

I have exactly the same problem on a Tactix Bravo. Have tried Mac, PC, different networks, different locations, different versions of watch OS, nothing works.
Also have a ticket open with support on this, but no progress yet. As you say, very frustrating.
  • There are specific forums staffed by Garmin employees for issues related to Express, you should try posting your problem there.

Any way you can move my thread there? Thank you.

FWIW, I exchanged the watch for another brand new one at REI. Same issues. Tried a 3rd computer, same issue.

My guess this is a combination of the new tactix Bravo + Garmin Express software. I'm guessing this may show up as more Bravo's are purchased.

Same issue here with my tactix bravo. Go through GE to set up wifi and nothing gets saved.
  • I am sorry that you all are having trouble with the Wi-Fi. It is likely that Garmin Express is sending the settings but the watch can't connect so the watch doesn't store the settings. You can tell if Garmin Express sends the settings by looking in the /Garmin/WIFI folder on the watch. Garmin Express sends an IN.BIN file to the watch that contains your Wi-Fi settings. If this is the case, ensure that the WIFI network meets the requirements:
    • 2.4 GHz band
    • 802.11 B/G/N
    • WEP / WPA / WPA2 security (WPA-Enterprise is not supported)
    • Channels 1-11 for North American devices, channels 1-13 for International devices

If you are still having trouble, it would be best to contact Product Support by phone.

    Jason,

    Still doesn't work.

As per my original post, I tried this on several systems (Mac & PC) and several modems (Asus RT-N66U, Apple Airport, Belkin). I consider myself pretty technical savvy. To eliminate any variables, I even EXCHANGED the 1-day-old tactix Bravo for ANOTHER NEW tactix Bravo at REI. The issue is the Garmin Express software, period.
  • Then you will need to do as suggested and call Product Support so they can troubleshoot your setup.
  • wifi issue with fenix3 tactix bravo

hi guys i just got my watch two days ago and i got the same issue here in terms of connecting it to a wifi, thought at the beginning that i typed my wifi password wrong but then i noticed that im not the only with this issue.

such a shame its a nice watch from garmin anyway i still got my ambit 3 sapphire was thinking to sale it but i will keep it for now till i see how it will go with this new fenix.

by the way i even had fenix3 sapphire before i sold it cause i was exited to buy the new tactix bravo :D , anyway im sure garmin will find a solution for this.

i have tried everything to connect it but nothing happen even though its showing that a wifi is connected from garmin express. anyway for now will just sync through bluetooth.
