Getting data out of 310XT - Not everything will sync - want files to manual sync

Two issues at the minute and I would be very grateful for help on either of them!

1) All weekend I've had error message from the Garmin express servers. It's saying that it can't connect and it needs me to log in to Garmin Connect again, I do and it still fails to sync (doesn't appear to complete the log in. I've even uninstalled the software, when I go to add the device I get: 'We're unable to add this device because our servers are unavailable at this time'
I've checked the servers here: https://connect.garmin.com/en-US/status and they all claim to be up.

Any thoughts?

2) I've got a few runs which are still on the watch but refuse to go into my garmin connect account. I've tried the 'transfer all' and that makes no difference either. Is there some way I can connect to the watch and take all the data out? That way I could upload the missing files - naturally these are not my normal training runs, but specific events that I want to have the track for, so I don't want to lose them.

Any thoughts gratefully received.

Thanks,

C

I would be happy to help you with this. Please make sure Garmin Express is up to date. When you are entering in the credentials are you using the display name or your email address that was recently changed? Try the display name as the username. As far as the one Activity on the watch. If it hasn't come off the watch in subsequent syncs then the watch itself cannot create a valid file from the data. It is corrupt and will have to be deleted from the History on the watch. The 310XT is not like other models that are mass storage where the activity files can be pulled from the internal memory and manually uploaded to Connect. The watch has to be able to create a file from the activity data on the computer, then Express can uploads it to Connect. On occasion the watch will create a file that Express cannot upload or that Connect rejects. These files reside on the computer so you can check that location for the activity if you like. The file names are arbitrary so you'll want to check the Date Created property of any file in the folder and match that against the date of the activity.

How do I remove FIT files that fail to sync in Garmin Express from my computer?http://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/simpleCase.htm?caseId={b2320530-05f0-11e4-eaba-000000000000}&kbName=garmin

Now instead of deleting the files in the Sync folder, you can rename them, adding a .fit extension, and try to manually upload the activities to Garmin Connect. The manual upload is one file at a time and will be tedious but some of the files may not be corrupted and may upload with no error. The following FAQ gives instructions for the manual upload, you would just navigate to the Sync folder on the computer instead of the folder on the device. I recommend moving the Sync folder to the Desktop or some other more easily accessible location to try the manual upload.

This FAQ contains instructions for manually uploading file but you'll have to substitute the file location from the above article for the location on the device in this article.
