changing importing to new profile-Training Center and ANT Agent

I cannot find a forum for Garmin Training Center (which I still use in combo with the ANT Agent USB dongle for reasons too complicated to set out here), so my apologies for posting here.

My training Center file was getting a bit large after 8 years so I set up a new profile for workouts from 2016 and onwards. However, ANT Agent still insists on transferring into the old pre-2016 profile. There must be an easy way to sort this out but I can't find it.

Any advise would be much appreciated -especially since I cannot find an appropriate Board to post this on.

Garmin's response was that they do no support Training Center anymore so I should move to Express. However, Express will not work on my two Vista machines with the system I have been using to keep the two PC's synced without having to pay for a Cloud service- SyncBack)
  • As they say, it's no longer supported so no forum.

    I do recall that back in the day, we had two profiles on our GTC for our two devices. We just selected the profile we wanted to get to when we needed to. That works on Windows XP. Vista always been a bit of a beast to work with.

    I'd suggest removing ANT Agent and the device then put them back in, selecting the new profile. I think that's what we used to do...

    Due to a misspelling, I have scrapped my old user account on Garmin Connect and set up a new account. How do I link the ANT agent to this new account so that the auto-transfer sends information to the new account and not the old account?

    Delete the GCAuthorizationKey.bin file from your Device directory (https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?t=1296).

    The next time you send data to GC, your browser should ask you for your username and password.

    Thanks, that worked great. In case anyone in the future reads this thread, it did require a re-boot before it worked. Thanks again.

    I assume you mean a GAA restart and not a Windows reboot? The former is required for GAA to pick up the change in the Authorization key, but the later should not be necessary.

    I would be happy to help with this. Right now it sounds like you have two profiles in Training Center, each with the same device added. After your device syncs with ANT Agent, that data stored locally and is accessible by either profiles in Training Center. Because both profiles are looking for data from that specific device. So you must have the second profile selected before you use the "Receive from device" command in Training Center. Use the User -->Switch to menu and verify the second profile is selected. You can change the name of the local profile using the User-->Profile "Username" menu if needed. To keep all the new data flowing into the second profile, do not use the "Receive from device" command while you have the original profile selected. The original profile would pull in all the data since the last transfer making it even larger. Unfortunately there is no way to delete the device from the original profile. Your only option would be to delete the entire profile which would discard your data. You could start the process of transferring all the data in the original profile to Garmin Connect.

    How do I upload a file from Training Center to my Garmin Connect account?https://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/case.faces?caseId={b9d398e0-02b2-11de-515b-000000000000}

    In regards to the information in the last post. The ANT Agent syncs with the device, holds that data locally in a HISTORY or ACTIVITY folder then transfers it to Garmin Connect using the GCAuthorizationKey.bin. Those instructions may help with problems uploading to separate Garmin Connect account but they will not help or effect what goes to Training Center. Training Center just accesses the HISTORY folder and imports that data into the active profile. It doesn't care what Connect account the ANT Agent is uploading it to.

    Hope this helps.
