New map downloaded to SD card not recognized

Bought and downloaded (from Garmin) a new topo map to the SD card in my device but the Oregon 450 will not recognize. Map is not listed in select map option in setup.
What am I doing wrong?
How do I get the map to move from Garmin to my Oregon GPS?
  • Is the card formatted FAT32? Is the map in a folder named Garmin?

new 8 GB SD card installed in Oregon 450, format is FAT32. Files are in Removable disk "K" / Garmin /
    the three new files that were created are ... D1325030.gma (3mb) D132503B (542614mb) D1325030B.unl
  • All looks okay, are you sure the card is seated correctly? You could try the files in the internal memory, just copy them to the Garmin folder on the device. See if they work then. If not could be a corrupted download.

Have you tried viewing the map in Basecamp with your Oregon connected? That would confirm if the map files are okay.

    Finally was successful
Changed my computer to the desktop, hard wired to modem, with all sleep features turned off and let it run all night.
It seems my problem was downloading via wireless. Didn't know the file size (Garmin doesn't say?) and thought that 1.2 gb was a complete download when it should have been 2.38 gb.
Thank you for your reply and suggestions though.
  • Corrupted download then which explains why it wasn't showing up. In future always do a safe eject, that would have told you data was still being transferred.

Glad all working now though so I'll close this thread.
