Vivosmart HR - Windows 10 sync problem

Before the latest Windows 10 update, I had no problems syncing my Vivosmart HR and could sync data from my Smart Index scale via Wi-Fi with Ant plugged in USB on desktop computer. I could connect the Vivosmart HR to desktop computer through USB connector and charge device and data was automatically synced. That stopped working so I cleaned connection on Vivosmart HR and switched to different USB. Those steps did not solve problem. Brought up Garmin Express and checked for updates to software. Still no luck. Plugged in other devices to USBs on desktop computer to check they were working properly. All devices worked as expected. Uninstalled Garmin Express and reinstalled. That didn't solve problem and only made matters worse because now can't set up Smart Index scale or Vivosmrt HR. So I now have two products with no way to setup or sync. Good thing I don't have more Garmin devices!!!!! Help needed.

I am sorry for the troubles. According to your Connect account both the VivofitHR and the Index Scale synced today shortly after your post. Let us know if you continue to have troubles.

My Forerunner 610 does not sync already several months!

Hi, i tried to uninstall, install, in several computers with several Windows versions - always error! It starts to sync scrolling Transfer bar 4 times and then giving an error message.
Local Garmin recellers have told me that this is common probleem and i have to wait for a software update. Sorry! i cant wait anymore.

Please advice me how to get rid of that probleem or shall i look at Polar or similar.

I am sorry that you are still having trouble. The index scale does not use ANT to transfer data to Garmin Connect. The ANT stick and Garmin Express are only used to set up the Wi-Fi connection which should already be set up.

To resolve the issue with the vivosmart HR, I would recommend following the instructions in the FAQ Why is my Garmin mass storage or MTP device not communicating with Garmin Windows applications?

If this does not solve the problem, I would recommend contacting support by phone to troubleshoot the problem.

Vivosmart HR - Windows 10 sync follow-up post

I am syncing my Vivosmart HR via Bluetooth using the new Garmin Connect app in the Windows 10 Store. I think this is a newly released app by Garmin. Previously I used the USB connector that came with the Vivosmart HR. I am still unable to use the USB connector and Garmin Express with the Vivosmart HR. Working with Garmin Support to resolve.

With regards to Smart Index scale - when I initially set it up I used Garmin Express to add device and it searched and found device immediately. Once I started having problem with the Vivosmart HR, I first tried to manually upgrade Garmin drivers. That didn't work so uninstalled Garmin Express and reinstalled. After reinstalling Garmin Express, it searched for devices (including the scale) but seemed to hang on searching. I let Garmin Express keep searching for 5 to 10 minutes and then another screen came up indicating no devices found but did find ANT stick. That screen contained a picture of the scale which I selected and then it let me set up the scale. So for users who run into problems adding scale just be really patient and let Garmin Express search for device 5 to 10 minutes and hopefully you'll get to second screen like I did. This is a change in behavior from the first time I set up scale where Garmin Express immediately found device.

I am working with Garmin Support to try and resolve problem. Initially someone with Garmin Support thought it might be a problem with the Vivosmart HR and mentioned sending new device but I'm still inclined to think it is a driver problem or some other problem due to latest Windows 10 update. Next week I'll be talking with Garmin Support to try and determine if it is a Windows 10 problem or not. I've been emailing Garmin Support this past week and been pleased with the support and effort to try and resolve problem but phone support will probably work better to try and resolve this problem.
