Installation error: Garmin Device Interaction Service failed to start Resolved

I googled this issue to death, nothing worked. All the advice from all the experts was ridiculous. The only thing that worked for me was reverting back to an older version: ver 2.3.18.0

I know many wont like to do this, but its the only way I can get garmin express installed and update my maps.

I tried all the 4.x.x.x and 3.x.x.x versions and got the same error. ONLY version 2.3.18.0 worked.

Im using Win 10 x64 on a HP laptop.

You have to google for it.

I am sorry for the troubles with the Garmin Express error. Please try uninstalling Garmin Express completely then deleting the Garmin_Ltd._or_its_subsid folder in the two locations below then installing the latest version of Garmin Express. The Core Service Failed to Start message can be caused by a few things so there are a lot of suggestions which may all work in a certain situation but there is not one universal fix.

    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Garmin_Ltd._or_its_subsid

    C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\

If you continue to have troubles please contact Product Support by phone.

I also have the error message on a windows 7 laptop.
I have admin privileges, I uninstalled the old app, I deleted everything that existed related to garmin.
I have tried manually starting the services.
I have also changed the user control account settings to never notify.

Can you let me know what to try next.

    Kind Regards,
    Julia.

I am sorry that you are having trouble with Garmin Express. Have you tried deleting the folder C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Garmin_Ltd._or_its_subsid (C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Garmin_Ltd._or_its_subsid on 32 bit Windows)?

If this does not solve the problem, also make sure that the administrator has full control of the Garmin folder in C:\ProgramData\Garmin and all of the sub-folders. If you are not sure how to do this or it does not solve the problem, it would be best to contact Product Support by phone.
