Can only connect my Edge 1000 via cable not WIFI

Had to replace my stolen Edge 1000 with a new one. I've removed the old device from Garmin Express and connected the new device. Garmin Express is paired with the new device and is set up on my home WIFI network. My new device is also connected to my home WIFI network. BUT Garmin Express only sees the new device via a USB connection and not on WIFI.

Any ideas how to solve this?

I think there is some confusion about how Wi-Fi is used on your Edge 1000. The Wi-Fi on your Edge 1000 allows the device to sync with Garmin Connect without using Garmin Express or a computer. If you would like to use Garmin Express on the computer, you will need to plug the device in.
