2016.20 is unaccountable huge

I had trouble installing 2016.20 on my 2995 nuvi due to the EeePc going to sleep during the download to the PC and the Device. Eventually it work but when I examined the size of the gmapprom file it was over the 4gb formatted limit which is OK since the memory if 8gb. However, reading elsewhere I see that the size is supposed to be about 2.36gb, not 3.99 gb.

I then brought up mapsource, selected all the maps and observed that the size was only 2.36gb same as I read elsewhere.

Could the 4gb file be corrupt and I have no discovered the corruption yet?

I am sorry about the trouble with your update. You are right. The file should not be anywhere close to 4GB. It is possible that there is just a bunch of blank space in the img and it won't cause any problems but I would recommend reinstalling the map just to make sure. Before reinstalling, I would delete the image off of your computer so that Express can rebuild it. You can find the image here:

C:\ProgramData\Garmin\CoreService\Downloads\Map\Map_Map.NA.2016.20\RMU\NA\2016_20\IMG\006-D2338-22\GMAPPROM.IMG

Once you have deleted this file reinstall the update and express will rebuild it. Hopefully, this time it will be the correct size. If not, I would recommend contacting Product Support by phone.
