fitness equipment workouts won't sync anymore

Garmin Express started producing errors while trying to sync workouts recorded on my Concept2 rower using Forerunner 610, that's after months of seamless operation. It still syncs other (outdoor) workouts just fine. The asnwer from Garmin Support was as follows:
"As the data you are trying to upload is from a third party unit, I'm afraid we are unable to offer any troubleshooting as to why this may not be working."
I found non-uploaded temp files in the Devices folder according to https://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/case.faces?caseId=%7Bb2320530-05f0-11e4-eaba-000000000000%7D, added .fit extension and uploaded to Endomondo (uploading to Garmin Connect won't work, there is an "undefined" error popping up during the import session). Endomondo shows workouts with all data as usual, so this may probably be a Garmin Express / Connect issue.

Will try removing the current Garmin Express and installing some legacy version, see if this works. Otherwise any ideas what could go wrong?

    I am sorry that you are having trouble syncing your device. I have looked at the files that you were trying to upload and they uploaded without any issues for me. I am not sure if I got them all because I am unable to see most of the file names so it is difficult to tell which ones are duplicates. However, at least most of them should now be on your account.

    Since I am able to upload the file without issue, the problem may have resolved itself. If you are still having trouble, I would recommend following the instructions in the FAQ What can I try when my ANT Fitness device will not sync with Garmin Express?

    If this does not solve the problem, I would recommend contacting Product Support by phone. http://www.garmin.com/support. Even though you are using a 3rd party rower, the Forerunner is what is being used to create the data so there is no reason that we can't assist with this. It is just a little tricky to troubleshoot over the forums when I can't reproduce the problem on my side.

  • Hi Jason, thank you, indeed all files are on my account now. And I was able to upload my morning session today without any issue. I did this using 4.1.6.0 version of Garmin Express though, will see if the sync works for the latest one later.
