Win 10 basecamp maps

Haven't been online in awhile so this might have already been discussed. Have a new PC with Windows 10. Loaded GE and Basecamp with no issues. Trying to get the map files I had on the old PC to the new PC. Been downloading for a couple hours. Got to where it says 2 minutes to go, then it just sits there for who knows how long. I've been at this point for at least 30 minutes today.

The map files are fine on my GPS unit. When I start Basecamp I don't see any maps until I connect my GPS then basecamp uses the map files from my GPS.

Why is the download not completing....or is there a way to copy the files from my GPS unit. I tried to copy the map files from my old pc to the new pc but it wanted me to unlock the maps and needed a code.

My thoughts are to uninstall basecamp and start all over, is there a better way to get the maps on my PC. The map file I'm trying to get is CN North America NT 2016.20
  • If Express isn't working for you and you still have access to your old PC use JaVaWa's GMTK program to transfer the map across to your new PC.

Thanks for your suggestion. I tried to uninstall and re-install Basecamp but loading the maps still doesn't work. When I start the download it says downloading files with 4 minutes to go then just sits there. I've waited as long as an hour before I gave up.

Sounds like with the tool you suggested I have to load the app on both the old and new PC. Kind of tired of fixing things that don't work correctly in Win 10. I might just stay with the way I'm doing it now and plug the GPS unit in each time I want to create a list of routes and waypoints.

Very frustrating that this doesn't work between old and new PC.
  • Doesn't take long and probably simplest way to get it working. Some Win10 installations seem to have issues, your best bet may be to contact Product Support so they can do one to one troubleshooting.

I am sorry for the troubles. Your device in good shape in the system, I can see nothing on our end holding up the map download. Please see the FAQ articles below and if you continue to have troubles, contact Product Support by phone.

Here's an update, I finally got it to download. Read the information that Curt suggested I read. Only thing I wasn't doing was to turn off my third party firewall. So I uninstalled Basecamp, reinstalled Basecamp, then downloaded the maps and it worked. Getting everything re-installed on Win 10 has been a major task. Wish I could have stayed with Win 7 but the hardware was falling apart. Thank you.
