Garmin Express didn't correctly install Language Files for Nuvi 1490

Hey everyone!

I own two Garmin Devices a 1490 and a 2557 - they both displayed exciting news that they have added support for the Farsi language (persian) - This was very exciting news because my parents use these devices and that is their native language. It installed perfectly fine on the 2557 - it added two files to the text folder named "FA_IR-TRF.glx" and "FA_IR.glx." At which point i was able to select it from the settings option at which point the layout switched to Farsi...

On the other hand on the 1490 it only added a "FA_IR-TRF.glx" file and not the "FA_IR.glx" and when going into the settings I didn't see an option to choose Farsi..

I have already tried looking under the optional updated on Garmin express but to no avail.... Any help would be greatly appreciated... If anyone happens to have the 1490 and has the file that would be great.

Thanks in advance!

I am sorry you have had trouble getting the Farsi language loaded onto your device. If Garmin Express isn't wanting to load the file correctly, you may have success trying a different program called the WebUpdater. Please download and install the WebUpdater here.

I am sorry you have not been able to get the language you need but hopefully this helps. Let us know if you still can't get the voice.

I apologize for the misinformation. The nuvi 1XXX series devices, like your nuvi 1490, never supported the Farsi language. And I am not sure what notification you received but Garmin is no longer supporting the Farsi language on it's Automotive devices moving forward. If you would like to maintain this feature, it would be best to post a comment on the Garmin Have an Idea? website.
