Garmin Nuvi 2797 Map Update locks up

Hello all,
I have a registered Nuvi 2797 and I've been trying to update the maps for a few days now using Garmin Express. Each time I attempt to do so, the download starts and after a bunch of hours, it locks up at "Estimated time remaining 1 hour, 4 minutes. Prior to this message, I know the program is indeed downloading the software because other web pages are slow to appear and the program is indeed, using "processor resources" (MS Config).

However, after the status message appears, there is no continuing download. Computer resources are not being used and other web pages load quickly.

I remove Garmin Express and reinstalled it, but still have the same issue.

Can someone please help. What can I do to update the maps? I have even tried "Mapupdater", but that does not work either.

Thanks.
  • This can be caused by insufficient free space on your device, how much is showing as free?

Also ensure you're running the latest version of Express and run through this FAQ

Nuvi 2797 Map update locks up

I have 1.65 GB free of 7.0 GB.

I have owned two Garmins over the years and have had a lot of issues regarding their software. With all due respect, whoever designs the software should be fired.
Sorry about the comment, but the software is complicated, does not work and is a mess.
  • Well in the years I've been using Express it's only failed once for me and that was very early on. Most folks who have had issues have found the problem to be with their system rather than Express itself.

Since you have ample space I suggest you contact Product Support so they can troubleshoot your particular problem.
