Plug in your device screen stuck on 'Reading device information'

Hi there.
So I have just bought a Forerunner 920xt and am in the process of setting it up. I charged it then downloaded Garmin Express. After clicking on Add Device the screen says 'Reading device information' with a small circle above it that moves. I have tried cancelling it and trying again three times and it just does the same. It has now been over 20 mins and there is still no further action.
Has anyone experienced the same thing or have any advice to assist with this issue?

    I am sorry for the troubles. At that point in the process, Express has collected some information from the device and is using that to get even more information from the Garmin Servers like possible Software Updates. The symptoms may reflect some type of network issue. Please see the information in the FAQ below. The title might not seem to describe your exact situation but the information in the article should help identify or correct network problems.
