Using Windows XP, Garmin Map Updater or Lifetime Updater softwares won't detect a Nuvi 2595. Both softwares run and remain in the looking for device mode. The computer sees the device as GARMIN E: removable disk. However, Garmin Express 3.2.29.0 does detect the device.
I am sorry for the trouble. I would first recommend removing both Garmin Express 3.2.29 and the Garmin Lifetime Updater as neither application is currently supported. Next, try the steps in the FAQ Why is my Garmin mass storage or MTP device not communicating with Garmin Windows applications?
If these steps do not solve the problem, you can also make sure that the internal memory on the device is not full as this will cause detection issues. If there is less than 100KB available, I would delete some of the unwanted languages from the Voices folder on the device and then disconnect and reconnect the device.
