Vivosmart Garmin device and Windows 10 not recognizing - express shows not connected

Hi There, this seems to be an issue and NO post has a solution yet.

I have 2 Garmin devices - both now are not recognized by Windows 10 after upgrade. The vivosmart is like it does not exist - although it is charging and when hold device to connect it shows the USB icon it should be connected. If I plugin S3 watch it has a message 'windows could not recognize device'

Both devices are not shown in disk manager or device manager - nothing there. I have got latest version Garmin express 4.1.1.0.1 or something..

I have HP laptop if that helps.

(NOTE: After the initial upgrade Windows 10 I am not sure If I connected to Garmin, I think I did. Since a Windows 10 update, I think I could connect. That last Windows 10 update, there are been about 3 since. But Windows 8 and 8.1 where no issues. My last connection to vivosmart say August and that is when upgrade was with Windows so time is very close - so not 100% sure either way - but BOTH devices suddenly cannot connect so has to Windows 10 issue.)

The good news since I have been writing this The GPS S3 watch has come on, it may have been flat battery too weak to connect. Anyway that is working fine. I can see it in all drives and device management. The vivosmart, I am using official cables, I have cleaned contacts. It is showing on device connected but not showing on PC as mentioned. I have tried in all USB ports...and is at full charge. In the garmin express it is there is an update for vivosmart, but I cannot connect - could that be the fix? How could I do this is I cannot connect?

Thanks

Tried this device with another windows 10 pc - exactly the same. Does not show connected, and cannot see device in drive manager etc etc

Have you tried connecting the vivosmart to a non-Windows 10 PC? I see that both computers you have tried are Windows 10. Since the Approach S3 is detected, the vivosmart should be as well.

We have had reports from other customers that after upgrading to Windows 10, Windows is no longer assigning drive letters to the USB devices. This can be corrected in Disk Management. Have you checked Disk Management to see if the device is shown there? I see from your posts that it is not present in Device Manager but that is a different utility (Open File Explorer > Right click on Computer > Left click on Manage > Left click on Disk Management in the programs on the left hand side of the window).

We have also had reports that the mass-storage driver is not properly loading or installed after upgrading to Windows 10. Have you performed all Windows updates?

If you connect the device to a computer that is running Windows Vista, 7 or 8 and it works fine, then it is an issue with how Windows 10 is detecting the hardware. If the vivosmart is not detected in Windows Vista, 7 or 8, then the device or the cable/clip is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced.

It would be best to contact Product Support by phone for further assistance.
