forerunner 310xt not syncing and losing data

My forerunner 310xt is refusing to sync to Garmin Connect. Device connects through ANT and looks to be transferring, but I get an error message "There was an error syncing with Garmin Connect". Have tried transferring all data, wiping garmin express from my pc, re-adding the watch and clearing sync queue, but none of these are working.

I've had a similar issue before and for some reason it just started working again. This is the most recent in a long line of issues which I have had with this watch, and quite frankly it is not good enough. Can you please let me know if there is something else I should be trying or if I will have to live with not syncing again.

I am sorry for the troubles. The number one reason for sync issues with the 310XT is a corrupt activity file on the device or the device's memory is simply to full. I suggest deleting all activities that have already been uploaded to Express then try and sync. If it fails delete the activity after the last sync. First activity after Oct 19th. Also make sure Garmin Express is up to date as there were some improvements made that dirrectly affect syncing with the 310XT.

How do I update Garmin Express?

  • Still no improvement

I've tried pretty much all the steps you suggested, including deleting all my activities - which I'm not that happy to have done as I've now lost everything from last sync.

Long and short of it is that despite deleting all - there is still one activity which keeps showing on the device. Any way to get rid of it?

Otherwise it looks like I'm going to have to send it in to be fixed and given I've had issues syncing from day one when I need to upgrade my watch garmin won't be at the top of my list.

    Thanks

What may be happening is that the activity is locked in the unit's memory but can't be accessed. This is most likely the cause of the corruption. To clear this out the unit may need to have a Master Reset done. See the FAQ: How do I reset my Forerunner 910XT and 310XT?
