Garmin Nuvicam LMTHD Stuck on Garmin Express Homescreen

Former Member

Hello guys, I am a newbie on this forum :D

Just bought the "top-of-the-line" unit, the Nuvicam, installed a 16GB Class 10 microsd for camera recording and the standard 4GB for maps.
My unit is always stuck on the homecoming screen and not working as I expect it to be.

I am not freaking out yet, I do know that there are always bugs when it comes to technology. Can anyone assist me please? What's happening?

Thanks
Danny
  • Did u already tried a factory reset?

    • Start with the device turned off and unplugged from power
      • To verify the device is powered off and not in standby mode, press and hold down the power button until prompted to turn off the device

    • Power on the device
    • When the first copyright screen appears press and hold the lower right hand corner of the display portion of the touchscreen
    • Remove your finger from the touchscreen when "Erase all user data?" appears
    • Touch Yes
      • If text language is not in English, this is the button on the right

  • What is it you are trying to do with Garmin Express? Register your nuvi? Update software and/or map?

Whenever you connect a nuvi to the computer with USB, it goes into MTP or Mass Storage mode and the nuvi screen will show an image of a gps connected to a computer. That is normal. If you want to access the nuvi menus in operation mode, you need to disconnect it from the computer.

Note that these Garmin forums do not support device questions on automotive GPS devices. If you have questions about your Nuvicam, you can get more help over on the GPS Review forum http://forums.gpsreview.net/categories/garmin-auto-forum-garmin-nuvi-forum
  • @silverspear

What exactly do you mean by the homecoming screen?
  • SILVERSPEAR

The nuviCam has very little battery life out of the box and only about 30 minutes when fully charged. It takes about 8 hours to fully charge when connected to the computer and a couple hours when being used in the car. It is made to run off vehicle power. Make sure you have removed any screen protector stickers and install it in the car per the Owners Manual and if you continue to have trouble please contact Garmin Product Support.
