Does not upload data

Everything looks normal except that data are not uploaded. That last uploading was March this year. I have been using My Forerunner 301 all the time, and I noticed it stopped bringing up Garmin Express a while ago when it is connected to a computer. It did not bother me much because I am still using the Training Center. I updated Garmin Express today, and am trying to upload data to Garmin Connect.
  • I use the 301 almost every day now. These days, I never have an issue.

That being said, I did have issues when I connected it to Express for the first time about a year ago. At that time, it took connecting it maybe a half dozen times before it finally synced. Also, I found, at first, having the Express window open to the 301 before connecting it to the usb cable also helped. I stopped doing that after a while and just sync with the express icon in the tray and it's been very reliable. If I remember correctly, the first few times, there was a delay of a minute or so before the syncing progress bar started up. After that, I've haven't had an issue.

I presume your 301 is off when you first connect it to Express - right? It should be.

    Good luck.
  • Thanks a lot for the tips, Phil.

I have tried all kinds of combinations in terms of whether to start GE before or after 301 is connected and whether 301 is on or off. I always get the error message (as shown by the attached screenshots):
"There was an error syncing with Garmin Connect". I wish to see the error log if it exists.
  • If I'm not mistaken, there is a later version of Express than the one you are using. If you were to call support, the first thing they will recommend is to update express to the latest version.

That being said, it's hard to imagine changes in a new version that would affect the 301 but sometimes the act of upgrading resets parameters enough that it works.
The second thing they will recommend is to delete the 301 and add it back.

They can also point you to the log as I haven't had the need the to look at it so I don't know where it is now. Perhaps someone else here can point you to it.
  • You are right, there is a new version, Phil. Thank you for the tip. I think I updated GE yesterday, so the new version probably has just been released.
The new version has fixed the problem. Hallelujah!!!
