Hello! I hope someone can help me. When I launch Garmin Express, it asks me to connect my Garmin device. I connect it, my PC opens a folder with the Garmin files in it, but Garmin express does not acknowledge that it is there. Can anyone help me please? Thank you!

I am sorry for the troubles. Please see the FAQ below. If the Nuvi 1390 has never been updated please see the section on using the Garmin Web Updater to update the firmware on the device.

Why is my Garmin mass storage or MTP device not communicating with Garmin Windows applications?

Thank you for your fast reply! Sorry I am having trouble finding a link to fixing the firmware. I tried the web method and that didn't work.

I am sorry that you are having trouble. I would guess that if Express doesn't detect your device that WebUpdater will not either. The most common cause of this on your device is if there is a corrupt GarminDevice.xml file due to insufficient space on the device. To solve this problem, we just need to clear any unnecessary language files off of the device:
    • Plug device into computer
    • Open Computer
    • Double-click the Garmin nuvi drive
    • Open Voice folder and delete voice files not needed
    • Unplug the Garmin GPS device from the computer
    • Allow the GPS device to boot up to the main menu
    • Plug GPS device back into computer
    • Try to add the device to Express again

If this does not solve the problem, it would be best to contact Product Support by phone.

Wim 10 not recognizing NUVI 1390

I find it interesting that when you uninstall Garmin Express, Win 10 instantly recognizes my NUVI. Sounds to me like the issue lies with Garmin Express...

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Those tips worked! You were right. It was critically low on space!

    Thank you so much again!
