Cannot upload to Garmin Connect

I have owned a Garmin Forerunner 405CX since March 2012, so I think I can say I know how to operate it. I am pretty happy with the watch itself, but the Garmin software stuff has always driven me crazy. I have had a lot of problems since the beginning, but not as serious as the one I have today.

I've had this new problem for 3 or 4 months now:
No problem to upload my activities to Training Center using ANT Agent. However, when ANT Agent tries to upload to Garmin Connect, it keeps asking me my user name & password, and after I enter that information, it tells me authentication failed. So I have to do this everyday each time I have the chance, and it is tireing. Sometimes, once in a while, for no apparent reason, it works, but I am wasting a lot of time and I cannot deal with it anymore.

I also tried with Garmin Express. There is the same issue except that the error message says that "Garmin servers are down right now, please retry later". So, same problem, but different error message.

Please help, because I am getting so fustrated that I am now considering crashing my watch against a wall.
Thank you

The re-authenticate message can be caused by several things. Since your 405CX is at the last software version I suggest that you completely uninstall Garmin ANT Agent and Garmin Express then clear the two locations on the computer where device information is stored during the sync process. Once this is complete correct the Resting Heart Rate setting in your Garmin Connect Modern account and install the latest version of Garmin Express. Garmin Express and the ANT Agent should not be run together on the same computer.

How do I uninstall ANT Agent?

Correct the Resting Heart Rate setting:

    Login to your account
    • Click the Profile icon on the left
    • Click Settings
    • Click Training Zones
    • Change the Resting Heart Rate to a value other than 0
    • Click Save

The last thing is to install the latest version of Garmin Express and add your Forerunner 405CX to it.

Since the 405CX has been around a while it is important that you keep the History fairly empty. I recommend that you keep no more than 30 days worth of old activities on the watch. Delete activities after that have been uploaded to Garmin Connect.

If you continue to have troubles I suggest you call Garmin Product Support by phone.

Just in case somebody has the same issue, I found the solution in this thread:
    https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?321691-probleme-est-survenu-lors-de-la-connexion-aux-serveurs-Garmin
The computer needs to have the correct time, which was not my case.

Again, Garmin hardware is great, but I think software could improve a little bit. It would be very helpful (and not too complex) if Garmin webservices could return a relevant error code, which could be displayed in client UI. This would save a lot of time to everybody (users, Garmin support). Just my two cents ...

Thanks anyway to Curt for his reply
