Can't install Garmin Express 4.1.8.0

Hi

I can't install Garmin Express on my computer (tried 10 times, enven tried with version 4.1.6.0. The installation allways stops at the same point with the following message:
Service 'Garmin Device Interaction Service' (Garmin Device Interaction Service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

Any idea as to what to do?

Are you running it as an Administrator? Having saved the .exe file to your PC right click it and select 'Run as administrator' and see if that then works.

Yes I'm running my PC on an admin session. I tried your suggestion though but came to the same result.

Garmin Device Interaction Service failed to start

PROBLEM: Failed to install Garmin Express vs. 4.1.8.0 with the following message: Service 'Garmin Device Interaction Service' .... failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

But I have full administrator rights on the this computer.

Computer: Windows 8.1 / Browser: Chrome / Lenovo laptop

SOLUTION:
1.) Check / update framework version (.net framework software).
I was unable to check if I have the latest framework version as they have been updated through Windows updates (KB numbers only).
So I downloaded the free version of Microsoft Visual Studio. After installing MS Visual Studio there is now a longer list of .net framework software visible.

2.) Delete old version of Garmin Communicator
To avoid problems, I recommend to delete the Garmin Communicator software. In my case I encountered a problem that I was unable to add any device. This problem was sorted after I deleted the Communicator.

3.) Change the log-on properties of “Garmin Device Interaction Service”
In my case the installation of Garmin Express stopped
I then changed the log-on properties of the “Garmin Device Interaction Service” file:
- Open control panel
- View local services
- Select “Garmin Device Interaction Services”, right click on properties
- Go to “Log On”
- Click: “This Account” and type “Local Service”
- Delete the password (both lines)
- Click Apply
- Click ”Start” and check that the service starts
Once it starts, restart the programm installation.
And everything worked fine.
