Some activities would transfer but other won't

Hello.

I can't find any other person with my problem. I have a "Garmin Swim" Watch and a 910xt. I have ANT+ and Garmin Express installed. For a long time everything worked perfectly, I could see all my activities on Garmin Connect from the two watches.

Since two weeks however, I experience some errors during my transfers, and some activities would transfer properly, other won't. See this capture (in French, sorry). I roughly have one activity per day, but since day Sept. 13 I can only see few of them. I log three bike activities today, and only the last one transferred properly (Sept. 27). This is very annoying.

Today while transferring, my Garmin Express said several times "(not compatible)" without any other sort of explanation. When browsing activities on my watches, I can see them all, the one already transferred and the one not transferred.

Does someone know how to see and transfer all my activities ? I uninstall and reinstalled Express and ANT+.

Thank you.

I am sorry for the troubles. With the information available there is not one specific thing that would explain your issue. If you do several activities per day, make sure you hold the Lap/Reset button after stopping the timer after each activity. The watch should count backwards from 3. Do this between all activities. I did notice that in your Connect Account -> Profile ->Settings->Training Zones-> your resting heart rate is set to 0. Even though you don't use a heart rate monitor this may effect the device user profile information that is a part of the Sync. Please change the resting heart rate then click the Save button. You'll want to sync again with the 910XT to update the device. I didn't see the SWIM associated with your Connect account. Do a couple of test activities of 30 seconds or more and see if they both upload.

For activities that have not uploaded please try the suggestions in the FAQ: How can I resend my history from my wireless ANT+ watch to my computer?

If you continue to have trouble I suggest you contact Garmin Product Support by phone.

  • For 910xt, use Ant Agent instead of Garmin Connect

I just found the solution for the 910xt not working with Garmin Express in another thread on this forum:

    1. Remove (or disable) Garmin Express

    2. (Re)install Ant Agent

... and all should be well.

To be sure nothing was missed or skipped, configure your device to "Download All Activities".

If you want to find the local copies of your device data, check here for Garmin Express, or here for Ant Agent.

Don't ever automatically delete your data from the device. Check the memory yourself once in a while, and delete when you reach 95% full AND you know you have all the data on your local drive AND in Garmin Connect (or whatever other online service you may use, such as TrainingPeaks).

I'm getting fed up with Garmin in general, mainly with how quickly they stop supporting devices, especially refusing to add new features on older devices that can easily support them. Buying Garmin means buying rapid obsolescence. Fortunately, many phones contain ANT+ radios, and there are lots of apps that know how to use ANT+. And the apps get updated all the time! The next round of Android Wear devices may also contain ANT+ radios.

My 910xt is the last Garmin wrist device I will ever purchase. Unless, of course, Garmin does an about-face regarding firmware updates for "older" devices, and/or introduces an Android Wear device of their own.

    Hi.

Thank you for your help. The problem is solved.

I used ANT Agent for my Garmin Swimm, and for some reason the files could not be sent correctly to Garmin Connect. I removed ANT Agent and used Garmin Connect (that I used for the 910xt) to transfer data. I added my watch and start a synchronization of the whole history. It worked fine.

I started a full synchronisation for my 910xt as well. I had a never ending progression on the watch so I thought it was not working. I left it running the whole night like this when I shut it down this morning thinking it failed. But on Garmin Connect I can now see all my 910xt activities as well.

    Thank you again.

I did not know it was possible to see the local files. It seems the files are encrypted for Garmin Connect, but for ANT Agent the files are XML.

    Mickaël.
