Nuvi 50 LM

Hi, I have a Nuvi 50 LM which is about 1 year old. I have been trying to update the USA map installed but the only options I can get are to pay for a single map update or to pay for lifetime maps, which I should already have. I have unit ID numbers and serial numbers at hand if these are needed. This is the info from the order/collection paperwork.

  • Are you using the latest version of Express? If so does Express recognise your nuvi? If so, when do you get the messages you mention? Where did you purchase your nuvi?
  • Hi, yes I have the latest version on Garmin Express installed and yes Express recognises my Nuvi as the correct model etc. I then get a message that map updates are available and if I follow the prompts I am told that there are 2 options, a single map update or a lifetime map update. These are not free and the price for each I beside the update. I cannot find a way to update the map for free. The Nuvi was purchased from a Walmart store. Thanks for any help.
  • Express team will need to look at that as possibly an account issue. They should be along soon.

    I have checked our database and everything looks to be correct. There is a product key for a map update available for your device. You may want to try fully registering your device using your myGarmin account. Log into your account and then click this link and follow the prompts to fully register the device:

    Once completed, completely quit Garmin Express (close any open Express window and right click on the icon in the system tray by the clock and quit the background process). Then open Garmin Express again, is the map update offered?

    If not, contact Product Support by phone for further assistance.

  • Hi, thanks for the reply. I have now been able to update to the latest map and really appreciate your help. I have read the map update info and it has that I can update the map for 90 days only, but I could be reading that incorrectly. Thanks again for your help.:D
  • Since yours is the LM model the 90 day limit doesn't apply.
