Data won't upload after Express "upgrade"

Can anybody help me to get the data from my watch that isn't in connect to sync please? I've done the usual delete the watch after the software "upgrade", put it back in and now it tells me that I'm all synced and up to date, but I have almost 2 weeks worth of data missing. How do I force it to re-examine and upload the missing data?

All help very much appreciated.

It's a 310XT if it makes any difference.

Thanks!

I am sorry for the troubles. If the activities are still in the History menu on the 310XT you should be able to send them to Connect. How can I resend my history from my wireless ANT+ watch to my computer? Once the Activities are uploaded to Connect they should be removed from the History on the watch. If the memory on those devices gets full then it will cause sync and corrupt data problems. There is no way to automatically delete activities so it is up to the user to maintain the History. I recommend that you keep no more than 30 days in the device.

If that fails to resolve the issue, further troubleshooting will need to be done by phone. Support Hours in the US:

    Mon–Thurs: 8 a.m.–6 p.m.
    Fri: 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
    Central Time (Closed Holidays)

Thanks, I'll follow those instructions tonight. Appreciate you getting back to me so quickly.

It isn't the history on the watch as I cleared it down not long ago, although, let's be honest, that should slow the sync down as it downloads the data and checks against the records already stored on connect (although these files are not exactly large so it shouldn't take that long) but it really shouldn't cause sync problems.

The major bugbears are in my other post from yesterday, software these days needs to be intuitive to use and provide a good user experience. Express just isn't doing that right now. It needs the ability to manually kick off the sync with an option to sync the whole history or select the ones from your history that you want to update when doing a manual sync. The "It syncs as soon as connected is just a complete fallacy and I'm guessing that testing is done in a way that doesn't replicate the user experience; i.e., switch on PC, switch on watch, spend 5-10 minutes checking facebook updates and emails, expect the watch to have synced, shut down. Not have to leave machine on for an hour, etc.

Ahh of course, this is the post that gives the stack trace. I thought I had tried to access this before. Can you fix the link please or just paste the data into this post for me please.

    To resend your activities:
    • Press MODE (to get to Main Menu)
    • Select History
    • Select Transfer All

This will cause Garmin Express to resend all of the activities on the watch. If you have a lot of activities stored, it may take awhile to complete the sync.

Thanks. Did this and after a lot of poking I finally got it working and to sync my activities. It now only works this way though which is very frustrating. I left it today (workign from home) on all morning and it wouldn't sync *hence the need for the "force sync" button we all keep going on about!!!!* on either the cable or the ant+. Ended up having to remove the device again and getting it to sync that way.

It's getting really tiresome if I'm honest. We just want working software, we had it previously but it was taken away. I guess this is to support new features on new watches, but your non-bleeding edge watch users don't need all that junk and would like to be able to say, "no more updates please until I get a new watch" when they get a working implementation of the software. Naturally we wouldn't need to do this if the new software was test properly or the bugs that force us to disconnect and reconnect the device were fixed.

Please listen to your user base, you must be tired of answering the same sort of issues and having so many people rant at you. Oh and if it wasn't clear, put a sync now button back on the software as your "it will automatically pick up and sync" doesn't work or certainly not within a short time period; i.e., less than an hour. Listen to the user base or lose the business.
