Forced upgrades break everything

Garmin, your approach to software deployment is not only disastrous, but it is forcing people to look at other devices.

I foolishly install express when it came out and have had nothing but trouble since. Each update fails to recognise my device, I have to disconnect and reconnect my device which then upon trying to reinstall won't find it on the ant stick so I have to find the cable, then when it does, it doesn't upload all the data since my last upload to garmin connect. I've not got data on my watch that won't upload.

If I had chosen to upgrade from the working software to the new version then that would be a case of "foolish me", but Garmin express doesn't give me the option, if I want to upload my data I'm forced to upgrade to the new version... which gives me the problem above and wastes my time trying to rectify the problem.

I know I'm not alone, so why isn't there a sticky that explains how I can convince Express that it hasn't synced all my data?

Also, putting up a sticky saying "oh well we think it's better without a sync button" is a dreadful non-customer centric answer. "Don't worry, it will sync as soon as it finds your device" My watch regularly takes upwards of an hour before it chooses to sync, irrespective of what I do. Like many users I (a) don't have time for this, and (b) don't have my personal home PC on all day just waiting for the sync to occur. I want to pop onto my PC, connect the watch, sync and switch off. Your approach means I can't do that because your software isn't good enough at actually doing what you claim it does!

Do everybody a favour and:
1) put the sync button back on
2) enable users to force a "sync all data" and if that means we import things twice then we can just delete the duplicate from Connect, although it should be clever enough to spot duplicates and if not there should be a tick box option to select what data one wants to upload before it goes to connect when a "sync all data" is performed.
3) make the upgrades optional not forced, when it ain't broke for me I'm not looking for you to fix it!

Please start listening to the users - would love to see proof of you doing so.
