error 1114 - basecamp 4.5.1 under Windows 10

Hello,

Basecamp 4.5.1 (3D) under Windows 10 doesn't start. I've the error message : "LoadLibrary failed with error 1114..............."
On the same computer, Basecamp 2D works fine.

If someone can help me.

In advance, thanks a lot

Olivier

Check to see if you have a switchable graphics card and a Switchable Graphics Application Settings tool. If so, BaseCamp is probably set to Not Assigned under Recent Applications. Other users have been able to change the setting to High Performance and BaseCamp opens correctly.

  • Hello,

    many thanks for your help.
I've opened AMD Catalyst Control Center.
I've selected "Power" and then "Switchable Graphics Application Settings".
As you said, BaseCamp was set to "Not Assigned" under "Recent Applications" section. I've changed the setting to "High Performance"
and BaseCamp 3D opens correctly now :)

    The issue is resolved.

error 1114 on basecamp with Intel graphics?

I'm getting the 1114 error (.dll not loading) on an HP with Intel graphics. I saw the fix for AMD video, but I don't have that option with the Intel video. Basecamp was working before the last update to 4.5.2

    any ideas?

Hey Olivier, how did you get BC 4.5.1 to install with W10 - W10 doesn't support Windows Media Player 11 which the setup program insists much be installed. Seems a few people have reported this, although surprisingly few, and I've not seen a reply from a Garmin rep yet. Andrew

What version of Windows 10 are you running? Is it by any chance a Windows 10 N (Europe) or KN (Korean)?

If you are running N or KN, try installing https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48231 before installing BaseCamp.

If it is not Windows 10 N or KN, what version are you running?

Thanks for the reply. No I'm running 64-bit Windows 10 Home in Australia. BC 4.4.7 is installed and works fine. I manually downloaded the 4.5.2 setup from the Garmin website rather than allowing BC to perform its own upgrade. Microsoft make no mention of Windows Media Player 11 being available for W10. After lots of searching I've noticed a few other users with this problem.

Windows Media Player 11 isn't "available" for Windows 10, it is preinstalled... unless you have the European or Korean versions of Windows 10. We are working to improve our messaging on this, so that we can property direct customers to download the Windows Media Player installer.

Thanks, can you tell us in this topic where to "download the Windows Media Player installer" or how to fix this setup issue?

I managed to solve my problem with Windows Media Player 11 files not being installed; a prerequisite for BC 4.5.1 and later. It appears to only be a problem in a few countries but Garmin weren't able to offer any advise. Try this: Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off > go down the list to Media features > Windows Media Player. After ticking this box I was able to install BC 4.5.2 without any problems. Best of luck.

Thank you for your feedback, that is a simpler way to acquire Media Player.
