You copy the track from BC in the folder Garmin/GPX.
Then you switch on the Oregon, the track is in the favorites, you select the track and use the option "archive track".
But you can rename the archived tracks in the oregon
You select the desired archive track, then you choose the option "unarchive track". The track move in the favorites and you can directly rename in the gps.
Thanks for the reply, my tracks file which is stored in my Garmin/Gpx/Archived folder contains 180 Tracks going back to 2012, hindsight says I should have renamed them after each hike. I copied the archive file and copied it into a Folder on Basecamp so I could locate them on the map and rename them. I right click on the folder which gives me an option to move or copy to my GPS. neither option works. All I want to do is move this Track folder from BaseCamp to my GPS.
FYI. My GPX Folder on my GPS contains three subfolders Archive, Current and Nav. PC Windows 10 Basecamp Ver 4.5.1 Oregon 650 Software Ver 4.6
Hi, Thanks for the reply. When I moved the track files to Basecamp I renamed them with their location on the map, so a file named Track_2013-06-10 140449.gpx was renamed Campbell Creek. When I right click on the renamed file it ends up in the GPS with file name Track3.gpx. The question now of course is there a way of sending the file and have it retain its new name.
Roger
A little more detail. GPX files can contain more than one object (the name of each object is contained within the file) so the file name has no choice but to be independent of object names. Changing the name of the file will not affect the name of the object(s) it contains. The change has to be made to the appropriate field within the file.
