Garmin GPS 60 Waypoints won't show

I have a Garmin GPS 60, and have been using EasyGPS on my laptop to communicate with it. I can create waypoints in EasyGPS and upload them to the GPS, but I can't see them there, but I can download them okay again from the GPS, so it is storing them somewhere.
Perhaps I'm just missing something in the logic about how this device works, but no matter which way I try, it says there are no waypoints.

Any ideas on why this could be happening?

I am just guessing here. I do not have a GPS60.

Have you updated the software to the latest v2.40 ?

Yes, it is at the latest version. I have tried this also with EasyGPS and get the same result, so my thinking is that it is the GPS rather than the software.

I wonder whether there is a way to do a factory reset on the GPS as can be done with modems for example. Very frustrating of course, as I have 24 hours before heading off on a long trip where I will be dependant on this GPS to find a number of waypoints.

Just because you can upload them and download them doesn't mean they are in the correct format for your GPS to read them, so I don't believe you can infer it's the GPS at fault. This thread may help you

Here is a possibility.

Open this website. It is a free tool that will convert and sometimes correct problem files.

Browse to the folder or file that has your waypoints or Import from GPS.

Then select convert to waypoint, GPX Waypoint.

Then click convert.

Note: I do not know if it will convert a batch of waypoints.
