cant get rid of brown lines that lead all the way to the factory

when i download my tracks onto my laptop i have brown lines that lead from where i shut off my gps and turn it on again.. and they even lead to the factory where my gps was made.. how do i get rid of these straight brown lines? they dont show up on my gps , only when i download my tracks to basecamp .
I had my gps in Saskatchewan. turned it off and then went to Nova Scotia.. turned it on.. and now I have a big brown line leading across the country. these brown lines even cover up my tracks, so basecamp is pretty much useless . help :-)

Those lines are actually a "track" from one location (the factory) when the GPS was turned off and where you powered the unit on. (Or between Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia.)

You need to identify and examine the tracks (GPX files) in Basecamp or on the device itself. If the extraneous line is part of a valid track, you will need to edit the track to remove that portion. Its possible the entire track is not needed and may be simply deleted (that may be the case with the track from the factory to where you first turned it on.

My observation based on my experience with the GPSmap 62s and 64s.

Save the track at the end then do a 'clear current track' when you switch it on again.
