Could someone explain to me how I get my zumo 660 to keep quiet on shaping points? When I create a route in basecamp and select all the points along the route to "don't alert on arrival" theye get listed as shaping points in basecamp. But when I upload them to my zumo 660 it still insists of alerting me on every single waypoint. Can someone explain to me how I can convince "betty" to be quiet along the way?
Some GPS won't accept shaping points from Basecamp, yours may be one that doesn't. You may be able to change them in the trip planner app. With the route open in the app (first screen when you select it) all the points should be shown with an Orange flag icon. Tap on the flag. Does it allow you to change it to a shaping point?
Sussamb-
Thanks for the tip on modifying Route Points to shaping points. I do not know if I will ever use that feature on my Nuvi, which does support the feature, but it seems that Garmin left that out of my User Manual.
Not in my manual either, I believe it was added as a feature later and the manuals don't seem to ever get updated.
Not saying it was me but I was certainly one to suggest it as it seemed incongruous that you could edit viapoints in a trip/route in Basecamp, then send it to certain devices where shaping/non shaping points would be honoured but were not then able to change them on the device itself.
