how to convert shapefile to tracks

I have a shapefile which consists of many separate short trails. I have tried various way to convert the data so these trails look like tracks in BaseCamp but I end up with Routes instead of tracks. I tried various programs like OpenJump and GPSBabel but I way have used the wrong settings. The GPX file I end up with does not have names for the trails although the data is in the shapefile.
Any ideas?

You can convert the routes to tracks in Basecamp. Right click on the route and choose "Create track from route"

You can also use GPSBabel to convert them.

I have 574 routes, is there a way to bulk covert the routes to tracks? Or, do I need to right-click each route separately?

Then I would use GPSBabel. It can do everything at once, straight from the shape files or from the routes.

I tried GPSBabel but I still ended up with Routes instead of Tracks, but maybe I used the wrong settings.

Yes, just change the settings in the conversion or transform the routes to tracks.

None of the many programs I tried made Tracks but they all converted the data into Routes. I finally just edited the xml editor in a plain text editor according to the example at the link below.

None of the many programs I tried made TRACKS

JaVaWa RTWtool converts polygon and polyline shape files to tracks (and point shapes to waypoints)

It can also convert routes to tracks.
