I understand that... You are not answering the question. There were other forums and those are no longer there. That is all fine and dandy, but what has happened to all of the threads from those forums? There is a lot of useful information in those forums that would be very handy to keep and perhaps moving them to one of the forums that remains would make sense.
If the old forums aren't easy to find and contribute to, it won't be a "better experience".

So, it appears, not exactly clearly, that there will be three classes of subforums: Garmin moderated, community moderated, and archived.
Maybe we will finally see a forum for the GPSmap 62 and 64 series On the Trail handheld units like they do on the Garmin Germany board...

So... Garmin eventually replied on FB. Not sure why they can't reply on their forums...
Basically, you can search for old threads with a general search of via Google. They won't be making the old forums browsable.
It sounds like they must have hired some of Steven Harper's (Canadian Prime Minister) policy advisors. This is similar to the feds ordering the shredding/dumpstering of all past research documents at the agriculture research stations in Western Canada (true, it's happening right now). With Garmin's forums it's sort of the equivalent of digital book burning.
How much is it that they're trying to finally bury older products like Mapsource and POI Loader and how much is that they have absolutely no sense of the value of these databases for reference purposes, I wonder.
