It's working fine for me so its a device specific issue. As for GE lining up with maps there are often inaccuracies in both GE and maps so expecting them to always line up is hoping for the impossible. Or do you have a different issue.
Sorry, you said Google Earth initially, now you mention the Pro version. Don't use that but believe it'll only work if you also have GE installed.
Now understand your route issue, I think! This can be resolved by realigning the map using the compass tool in Basecamp. If not visible go to View, Map controls and select On, then move the compass control so that north is north. If it already is move it off north then back again. That should then align routes with the map.
