There is an issue with BaseCamp 4.5 sending waypoints with names longer than 16 characters to the epix and fenix 3 wearables that can cause the watch to hang at the Garmin logo screen. This issue will be fixed in an upcoming firmware release for these watches.
If you have an epix or fenix 3 and haven’t yet upgraded to BaseCamp 4.5, please hold off doing this until the new firmware is available.
If you have already upgraded to BaseCamp and your watch isn’t yet stuck on the Garmin logo, please refrain from sending waypoints or routes to the watch.
If your watch is stuck on the Garmin logo, please follow these instructions to remove the waypoints file:
• Force the device to turn off by holding the Light button
• Hold the Start button
• Plug the device into the mass storage cable
• Keep the Start button held until you see the USB icon on the screen (about 30 seconds)
• With your file browser, navigate to the folder /Garmin/NewFiles/
• Delete the file named Waypoints.fit.
• Unplug your device, it will restart
