How to prevent Basecamp from importing photos from any SD card?

Hi,

I have a Sony SLR camera that also geotags photos itself, and I do not wnat Basecamp to do anything with these photos. However, when I start Basecamp, it automatically detects the SD card from that camera and starts importing tons of pictures, all stored on my (small) SSD.

I don't want that behaviour, how can I prevent Basecamp from automatically importing anything from any other device but my Garmin devices?

    How about disconnecting the camera?

Sorry, but why should one do that? Why does Garmin software not simply keep away from any SD-Card (yes, it's only the SD Card in my cardreader, not the camera connected)? I have not asked Basecamp to do anything, so why doesn't it stick to what it's supposed to do? :(
  • Well you asked how to prevent it, I gave you a reasonable suggestion. Your choice whether you follow it. I can't think of any other quick solution, someone else may be able to.

I don't have an answer for you, but I'm wondering... what is the format of the photo files and folder name that contains them?

I ask because I have an SD card permanently inserted in the PC reader with lots of stuff, including many *.jpg, and the only thing BaseCamp imports automatically from that card is a Garmin map, everything else it is just left alone.

EDIT: Never mind. Now I see why this could be a problem: BaseCamp imports all it finds in folder DCIM, without asking.

In my eyes, this is something that Garmin needs to fix. Whatever SD cards are inserted, whatever folders there are, it's not Garmin's or Basecamp's business :( I am really angry about that behaviour, especially because I cannoit find any possibility to configure:
    - that behaviour in General in BAsecamp
    - to configure where Basecamp stores that data. I have a small SSD, and was wondering where all my SSD space is going, until I found that Garmin imported tons of JPEGS in its Programdata folder without asking

This is really bad programming, and a bad attitude concerning the users property. All I expect Garmin to do is import tracks from my Garmin devices, it shouldn't touch anything else :(

Thanks for bringing this up. It looks like an oversight on our part. I'm creating a case to change this behavior.
