Win10 issues

Just upgraded to W10, since then BC can't see my GPSMap 62, I can see the device in explorer however. Does anyone have an idea?
  • Has Win10 assigned a drive letter to your 62? Try this:

    1) Go to device manager>Disk drives>Garmin device>Right click>properties>Volumes>Populate>OK
    2) Go to Computer management>Storage>Disk management>Under volume right click on Garmin device>Change drive letter and/or paths>Add> select available drive letter>OK
    3) Windows prompts about what to do when this removable drive is inserted.

Basecamp should then see your device.
  • That then seems like a Win10 issue ... you might need to contact Microsoft.
  • Basecamp and Windows 10

    Hi,

after upgrading to Windows 10 my Basecamp stopped working. It seems to crash due to .net issues. Re-installing did not help.
Any ideas about how to solve the problem (e.g. installing different .net version or deleting .net versions)?

    Thanks
    Matthias

No device in Basecamp after upgrading to Windows 10

after upgrading to Windows 10 there is no more device connection in Basecamp possible.
Garmin Express works very well on the same PC and the device is accesiable via windows explorer as well as the SD card.
  • Other Windows 10 issues

After upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7 I had some problems.

I tried to upload the new North American Map to my NUVI and computer. Garmin Express found my NUVI and loaded the new map on it however the map on Base Camp was "locked". I had to go to Garmin Support for help and they gave me a file to install. Note, Garmin Support was very polite and helpful.

My NUVI, in Device Manager, does not show up as a disc drive but rather as a "portable device". Garmin Express and Base Camp both find it. The NUVI no longer shows up on Windows/File Explorer as a drive.
  • Under Win 10 x64 Pro my Edge Touring Plus is seen and data is accessible within Basecamp, but safe eject does not work at all well. There was a Windows update in 8.1 which screwed things up (only for the Garmin and no other USB device) and the solution was to uninstall that one update. Now with Win 10 it looks like that update is baked into the OS. I'm not rolling back to 8.1 just because of the misbehaving Garmin, so I'm in for a world of pain every time I want to download new routes to it.

If I try to safe eject from the system notification tray the system half freezes and doesn't seem to recover fully without a reboot. Prior to the update you could eject the whole Garmin computer at once. Following the update you can only select internal and external storage individually and only eject one at a time. This is causing the freezes. Before, when it was possible to eject the whole unit at once there was no problem.
  • Please contact Garmin Support for this issue. This seems to be a device issue and Garmin Support may be better equipped to help.

Same here. After installing Win 10 I can no longer eject my nuvi 3590 safely.

Also, when connecting the nuvi to the Win 10 machine I get an unhelpful error popup for both device and card... "There is an error with this unit...".

Edited to add: Correct, it's not a BaseCamp issue, I forgot to acknowledge that.
