Text balloons

Hi,

New to this forum so not sure if asking something stupid.

I searched the forum first before asking but couldn't find it.

Anyway, I am looking for an option to turn of text balloons on the map. These appear anywhere my mouse is.
I didn't right click, just hoovering the mouse.

I have a fresh Basecamp 4.4.7 install so I don't think it is my PC, it looks like Basecamp is doing this.
Tried all settings in the program but I seem to miss the obvious.

The solution will probably be simple but you have to know. And I don't :rolleyes:

Also, I see my name is 'unregistered'.

How can I change my profile name? Probably just as simple, so I might have to apologize twice...

No setting to turn them off, but it's on the list of changes so may come at some point. It's been raised many times before.

To change name when this happens contact the admin tri.jands by PM.

I am not sure when the release will occur, but this is something we have addressed.

Sorry, just get back from a trip, and I NEVER update either BC or the device the night before a trip. Will try it today. ;)

EDIT: Well, I'd LIKE to try it, but I can't find that user preference anywhere in 4.5.0 Options....:mad:

Oh, never mind, I just discovered that BC updated to 4.4.7, not 4.5.0. So I'll have to go get it manually.

OK, I got 4.5.0 installed finally (hung install) and tried a 4 second interval.....seem about right, lets you move around and hover a bit without the pop-up, but if you want instant info an a POI that at that zoom level does not have text, you can just click it. These two features work pretty well together, since a contour line cannot be clicked.

The way I use BC, with a topo map selected 95% of the time to search for old roads and mines, it is a real help to be able to set the pop-up timing. Thanks for finally getting in a release.

It is a big improvement, thanks!

However; the timer starts counting from the last pop-up, not from the moment the mouse stops moving.
This is more obvious on a laptop mouse-pad. Every 4th second a text balloon rises, even if you just stopped moving the cursor.

Anyway, BC is now a pleasure to work with. No more text balloons on each height line or even balloons pointing out to me I have the cursor on "background"
