Deleting items on device via BC or PC?

It doesn't seem possible to use basecamp to delete items on my device. Is there a quick way to do this perhaps from PC (file explorer)? I am afraid of messing up the device if I am too hasty...

I have some phantom waypoints stuck on the device which are visible in BC but invisible on the device. But generally I would like to be able to quickly delete all/some items i have transfered to BC.

(Having just deleted the GarminDevice.xml file for other reasons, this did not solve this phantom problem).

Data on your nuvi must be deleted on the nuvi itself, you can't do it from Basecamp or via your PC.

Note that if you're using BC to transfer data to your nuvi you will have additional gpx files in the GPX folder on your nuvi. These can, and should in most cases, be deleted via Windows Explorer once the data is showing on your nuvi.

I had a look at the file structure. I see the GPX's - I may have a crack at them next time - I guess the 'system' is a hidden file? I can't see anything that might relate to 'phantom' waypoints.

.system doesn't contain a GPX folder so there's no need to meddle there.

To get a 'clean' nuvi delete everything in the GPX folder. Then reboot your nuvi and delete any waypoints you don't want. Any 'phantom' waypoints will be within a .gpx file somewhere.
