BaseCamp 4.4.7 will not install

Win7 64bit Home Premium

Used to have BC 4.2.5 installed and working, except that some of the features would not show up like they were supposed to.
So, I deleted that, and tried to install 4.4.7 which refuses to present the GUI install window. It comes up with the tiny Windows style install window, says it will take a few minutes. I click OK and it disappears.

Nothing happens after that.
The PC is fully updated with all of the Microsoft updates. everything...

I purchased a Pro version of Revo Uninstaller and searched for and deleted every reference to BaseCamp that existed on this PC.
It is now totally clean of any old software.... it should install w/o any problems, but it won't.

FWIW, I just installed it on my Toshiba Win8.1 laptop and it did exactly what it was supposed to. but that is a small laptop and I hate the thing, it is for travel use only in a hotel.

My desktop is shown below, and has a 24 inch High End Samsung Video monitor.

I asked earlier about the issue and someone said it needed Netware 4.5x, well, that is already on the PC. And, the BaseCamp installer says it will install that if it needs to anyway, so I don't see the point of talking about what version of netware may or may not be on a PC.

I need some help on this.... I have been doing computer maintenance and repair work since the Tandy all in one 300 baud tape drive came out, but this problem has me licked. I am not afraid of any aspect of Windows, I dive into the Registry to fix stuff, and repair Windows PCs for other folks regularly.... this PC is running fast and smooth, it just don't seem to like BaseCamp anymore....

I can't imagine how it would make any difference, but I tried turning off the VPN which did nothing as I expected.

Anyone got any helpful hints? I would sure like to get it going on this desktop.... laptops are for the birds.

I had the same problem and contacted garmin support. They told me:

I'd be happy to assist you with installing Basecamp. Please restart your computer. When it boots back up, disable any virus protection you have installed on the computer. It is possible any anti-virus software is blocking Basecamp's progress.

And incredibly it worked. I hope it works for you as well.

    Cheers

    Mapsource and BaseCamp finally installed

I just wanted to give a Shout Out, and say thank you for bringing this to light.

as previously stated, I had done a super deep Forensic Removal of all vestiges of any Garmin Product on my Win7 Desktop Tower PC. Literally, there was nothing left of it.

Unfortunately, that meant that I had lost the only working copy I had of MapSource.

I had also tried to just disable AVG temporarily for 10 minutes while the install was in progress. I don't recall the time frame that occurred in now many months later.

However, when the email notification showed up and I read the text included in that email, I decided to give it one more go.

I opened up AVG and turned it OFF Until Restart.

Then I opened up my C:/Installs/Garmin folder and ran both MapSource and BaseCamp.

both of them installed as they should, and I did see the appropriate Install Graphical Interface like I expected to.

Then I reopened AVG and turned it back to ON.

All is well, BC and MS are both operational once again.
