SD-card not vissible in Basecamp

Hi,

I have a Zumo 350 with an extra SD-card installed.

In the past, when I connected the device to my laptop, both the internal memory and the SD-card was shown in Basecamp, and I could
select either location to send routes, maps,....
Lately only the internal memory location is shown in Basecamp.

The SD-cards is available when using Windows file explorer, and works fine under Windows.
Also the device can read the SD-card, as the maps which are installed on the card are available on the Zumo.

I tried reformating the card, but this did not help (as expected).

Any other ideas (besides reinstalling Basecamp, which I want to avoid)

The obvious now that you've tried other things is a reinstall. Not sure why you want to avoid it as it will only take minutes.

I have found a work around.
First connect the Zumo to the laptop, wait for Windows to detect the device, then start Basecamp -> both internal and external memory available in Basecamp.
Seems to be a bug.

What happens with the installed maps when reinstalling Basecamp. These are not all Garmin maps, so I want to avoid having to redownload and install those as well.

Maps aren't affected by a reinstall.

Hi,

Just reinstalled BC, as suggested, but the result is still the same. The memory card is only visible in BC when I connect the Zumo BEFORE
launching BC.
Otherwise only the internal memory is visible.

I can confirm the behavior described earlier, using my BMW Nav V GPS.

If I connect the GPS to the computer first, allow it to be recognized by the computer, and then start BaseCamp, BaseCamp will see both the device and the SD card. If I already have BaseCamp running, and then connect the GPS. only the GPS device will be shown in BaseCamp (no SD Card). Both tests were run run using a GPS that was completely off (not in standby mode).

The SD card non-connectivity issue recurred on my copy of Windows B/C after upgrading Nuvi 56 firmware and maps to 2015.4 versions, and seems to be related to locked "lifetime" map control.

Not sure what you mean by that? On some of my devices I have lifetime maps, on others I don't ... sd cards show whether I plug in the device before or after I've run Basecamp :confused:

The intent of the post was to comment that Nuvi 56 connectivity with both internal memory and the SD card is fine with Windows Explorer, but problematic with BaseCamp. Coincidentally I had accepted an offer of firmware and map upgrade for the device and B/C before the Send To connectivity issues recurred. I have not followed up with trying to get the B/C map download completed and in sync with the device, but occasionally use the Nuvi map installation on internal memory via USB to follow along with user B/C issues on this thread.
