Download .GPX files to Garmin GPSMAP 64st?

I'm thinking about getting a GPSMAP 64st as my first GPS to help guide me through the presidential range, but I want to know if I can download a .GPX file which has my planned route through the various trails onto the GPSMAP 64st.

E.g, Would I be able to simply put my planned route in .GPX format onto my GPS and then when I hit the trail see where I am in relation to my route?

Sure, that's what Garmin GPS and others will do. gpx files are simply placed in the GPX folder on your GPS.

You can also use Basecamp for route planning, sending routes and waypoint to your GPS, installing maps etc
