More than 2000 waypoints on Etrex 30

Hi, I would like to have a collection with the mountains of the region where I live in my Etrex 30, and I have bought a 32 GB microSD to bypass the internal memory 2,000 waypoints limit. My surprise is that even with the microSD card empty, I cannot have more than 2,000 waypoints.

Is this normal? Can't I have a waypoints collection in my device?

Yes, this is normal as you could have read in the specifications. The waypoint limit applies to the device, not just the internal memory.
Solution: convert your waypoints to POI with Garmin POI Loader or JaVaWa RTWtool. Your device does support up to a couple of millions of POIs without problems.

Ok, I have converted the waypoints to POIs. Now, the problem is that I don't see the POIs on the map. Shouln't they be there?

If you use Garmin POI Loader you must provide your own POI symbol in the form of a bmp file (size 24 x 24 or smaller; 8 bit color depth), otherwise you will get a tiny grey dot. JaVaWa RTWtool adds symbols automatically.
The device doesn't show POIs at every zoom level; you'll have to zoom in pretty far to see them.

You can adjust the level at which the POIs show up.

Setup/Map/Advanced/Zoom levels/User waypoints. Affects both waypoints and custom POIs.
