I recently purchased a Garmin GPSMAP 64S and also installed Basecamp software. I have been following instructions on creating routes to send to the handset and experiencing a few problems. When I add the two points on the map that I want to navigate between, using the route tool, the route jumps around to use the nearest road, even though the activity profile is set to 'Hiking' Does anyone have any idea where I could be going wrong.
That map isn't routeable along the tracks, roads etc on the OS map. It has an underlying road map that is routeable, which is why you're seeing the behaviour you describe.
You'll need to select Direct Activity in Basecamp and create the route that way.
Many thanks for that. I'll try using the direct profile. I know I can create a track, which seems to work OK, it was just that the route tool seems a bit quicker and more accurate.
