Feature Request: Lock/Unlock Routes From Recalculation

Yes, I get that dialog, but it is an all-or-nothing option that when selecting "No" changes the profile of all to Custom. I wish to control which routes are recalculated because as I said, some are planned others are completed, and the latter are the only ones I want to keep unchanged.

Garmin’s solution for your issue is to allow users to create custom profiles within BaseCamp and on devices. To create a custom profile you select Edit Activity Profiles from the Activity Profiles tool bar. If the toolbar is not visible, use the menu View > Toolbars > Activity Profiles to open it. From here, you can also delete custom profiles.

At the top you should see a drop down menu of Activities and next to it a + sign. Click on the + sign to open the Add Activity Profile dialog. This allows you to supply a name for a custom profile and base the initial settings on an existing Activity Profile. You can change the parameters if you like or leave them the same and change them while creating your route.

Use this new profile to work on new routes without altering old ones. When you are done, you can change the profile of your new route to an existing profile (either a standard one or another custom profile).

While I agree that a check box option would be nice (especially from a safety standpoint), I also understand that the need for custom profiles that differ from the stock ones and how it can be used to deal with your issue.

Another alternative is to use the none Profile and change those parameters. Then when finished, change the profile to a stock or custom one. In both cases, all Routes using a custom or none Profile will recalculate when the parameters are changed. A few custom profiles will allow you to quickly see the results of typical changes in parameters merely by changing the Activity Profile.

Yes, assigning custom profiles back and forth is a doable workaround, but it would be sooo much easier and practical to be able to mark a route as locked, particularly when dealing, as is my case, with hundreds of routes.

I hope Garmin will consider the request.
