Routes Question/Nuvi 2595

Hello All,

So I've got a route that I created in google maps. I have it imported into basecamp. I'd like to send it to my GPS. Which it appears like I can do. And have done. When I disconnect the GPS from my PC where do I find the route that I sent over to it?

And once I reconnect it appears as if the file is gone. What am I missing or does my GPS not support this feature.

The reason I ask all of this is because I have a custom route I want to take when I travel to the beach this up coming weekend.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Jesse
  • Well if it's not showing something isn't right. You are creating a route in Basecamp and not a track? Tracks don't work on the nuvi series.

To send it you right click the route in the lower left hand pane and select Send to, a box should pop up allowing you to choose where to send it to. Note when you plug your nuvi back into your PC you won't see it on your nuvi, please see Note 1 in that link I gave you, the 2505 series cannot send routes/trips back from the nuvi to Basecamp.
  • In that case, it is safe to give this advice: if the route made it into the device as a trip you will be able to see it (just to check) with Windows Explorer in the hidden .System/Trips folder of the nuvi.

The first step is you should see a temp.gpx file in the GPX folder, that is what Basecamp sends to the nuvi.

I don't have that folder on my GPS. And yes I am showing hidden files. Could that be the issue?

Currently as we speak my GPS is still connected to my PC. I see the temp.gpx file in the GPX folder.

No. To see that folder you need to have it set to show hidden and system files. You might also have to set your nuvi to mass storage mode. But first check the GPX folder for temp.gpx with the correct date/time stamp to ensure the initial file has been sent by Basecamp.

GPS is set to mass storage mode. The temp file was there as well. Also I'm setup to view hidden files on my PC. I keep my PC at work set like that all the time cause we use the hidden directories from time to time.
  • Note you must also set it to show System files, that is a different setting in Windows ...
  • If the temp.gpx file is there disconnect from your PC, switch on your nuvi and wait ... it can take a while to import it so it shows in the trip planner app.

It's disconnected from my PC. I'll give it a good 1/2 hour or so. Hopefully it works.

First start the nuvi, then open trip planner, then wait... new trips show in seconds, certainly less than one minute so half an hour is overkill. :)
