Feature request: Create Drivetime Zone

One of the features I really miss from now defunct Mappoint was the ability to create user selectable drivetime zones:

Select a point -> right click create drivetime zone -> enter the desired time -> accept and in one second you get the result. Useful, easy, perfect.

The two sample images below show a 60 min drivetime zone around Klamath Falls

I'd like to request a similar feature for BaseCamp, and if it offers the option to use distance, as well as time, that would be really great.

@tranquilo2 - I see the cool factor, and I could see myself fooling around with a feature like this quite a bit just for fun. But I'm not sure I see the usefulness. Would you be using this to take a scenic drive or something?

Yes, I do a lot of very (very) long range scenic drives all over the country that require intensive planning. A drivetime zone helps me in several ways. For instance:

Upper limit of driving time for a single day.
Hotels within xx hours of driving.
Ditto for Rest Areas, POIs, Gas and Food
Day trips that are feasible from a given place (a star configuration of day trips)
Testing of "reach" for different driving profiles.
Find out where to split an excesively long drive. (say I want to go from LA to NY)
...and a long etc, all based on the "what's within x hours of here?" question.

Basically, most of the above can be done with BaseCamp as is, but it takes a lot of effort, whereas a drivetime zone answers the question visually and instantly.

I concede that a drivetime zone is of little use to many but to me is very useful. I do venture, however, that all that play with this feature for while will never want to be without it again. :)
