I think the question you need to ask is why your laptop is having the issue?

My desktop and laptop both work fine, and so is your desktop :)

I had an issue once, uninstalling both programs then re-installing them resolved it, so you could maybe start with that.

I'm not sure that's the issue here as whatever version the OP is using is the same, and it's working on one of his PCs.

Tried uninstall re-install TWICE. Also tried installing GE standard (not Pro) neither works.

OK so as they say third time's a charm! I uninstalled GE (but not PRO) and re-installed. It auto-launched after install and then I launched BC. Clicked on the View > GE and it worked! Closed GE and tried view again - Error Dialog. Launched GE then BC View - it works. Closed GE and launched GE PRO - View WORKS. I (and others) have tried this before (launching GE before calling it from BC) with negative results. But now? Well it works. Not flawlessly but I can easily live with it!

Oh - one other thing I got to thinking about the Desktop OS and while it is 7-64 it also happens to be "Professional" while the laptop is just 7-64.

I did do one other thing prior to this that at the time had no effect but may be why it now works. I found a suggestion (not for this problem) on GE help that said to install a shortcut to GE.exe to a folder which my system didn't have so I created it. "C:\ProgramData\Start Menu\Programs\Google Earth"

I installed Google Earth Pro on both my desktop and laptop PCs. Using View > Google Earth from BC 4.4.7 works great from Desk but gets "install Google Earth" from Laptop. Both are running Win 7-64, Intel I5. Both have same version of GEP. GEP launches and operates perfectly. So why can't BaseCamp find it?

It's busted (it's a bug).

It seems the only way Basecamp knows Earth is installed is if Basecamp is installed after Google Earth. It appears that it has to have Earth (just Earth Pro doesn't work).

It works if you run Earth (or Earth Pro) outside of Basecamp. That is some indication that what Basecamp isn't doing properly would be easy to fix.

That doesn't always work apparently. Actually, doesn't appear to work at all (in my experience).

It seems that if you have this problem, the only somewhat-reliable fix is to just run Google Earth before running Basecamp (and hope it works).

It's too bad that a simple thing doesn't simply work.
