Been using Mapsource for many years, just installed BaseCamp.
Under the "Activity Profiles" tab then "Edit Activity Profiles" I want to set my preferences and have 1 profile for use with my Multiple Nuvi's for the autos and 1 profile for my Zumo 550 motorcycle device.
On the "Routing" tab then "Road Type Avoidances" and "Feature Type Avoidances" what does checking or unchecking each option do? For instance if I have "Interstates" checked then plan a route I figure it will plan the route and not use Interstates. If later I'm out on my route and need to speed things up can I go to my Zumo settings and avoidances and uncheck "Interstates" then recalculate the route and have interstates included?
I'm confused about checking items in basecamp and not having them available later on my device?
Or does selecting certain items mean that the route is planned as selected but all options are still available later with the device on the road?
I just want to get this right.
I figure the Routing options under Activity Profiles sets the default for route planning on that profile but can I change that later on the device?
What happens if both options are selected under "Area Avoidances"?
I hope that in time (not too long) I end up enjoying basecamp as much as Mapsource. Usually new products are better especially with Garmin but Mapsource seems to get 4.5 out of 5 stars and basecamp about 2 out of 5?
Any tips on using BaseCamp with motorcycle and auto appreciated.
Thank you
Steve
